Bill Griffith Leads Bisnow State of the Market Panel on Twin Cities Real Estate Development

Bill Griffith led a panel discussion on the state of the Twin Cities’ business climate with panelists from the region’s real estate development industry. The event was held May 12 at 510 Marquette and was hosted by Bisnow, a commercial real estate news website and event company. It was the first such event in the Twin Cities market for Bisnow.

Speakers on Bill’s panel included The Doran Companies founder and principal Kelly Doran, Mid-America Real Estate principal Mike Sims, Minneapolis Regional Chamber of Commerce president and CEO Jonathan Weinhagen and DLR Group principal Ed Wilms. Other speakers at the event included Ryan Companies regional president Collin Barr, Duke Realty vice president of leasing and development Josh Budish, NGKF executive managing director Jim Damiani and Opus Development vice president Matt Rauenhorst.

Bill questioned his panelists on a wide range of topics, including recent growth and development in the region, as well as obstacles for future growth. Panelists said that the Twin Cities region is a growth market for developers, though there is room for improvement. The speakers cited international capital, multi-family building projects and a diverse and steady economy as catalysts for growth. They also discussed challenges for developers, including construction costs, land prices and a lack of funding for transit projects.
