Minnesota Employers Have Obligation to Grant Employees Time Off with Pay to Vote

Election Day falls on Tuesday, November 4th this year. Minnesota employers have specific obligations under Minnesota law on Election Day to provide employees time off with pay to vote during the morning of Election Day.
A Look Ahead at the United States Supreme Court’s Upcoming 2008 Term

The new term of the United States Supreme Court’s upcoming term begins on the first Monday in October (October 6th). The Court has already agreed to hear just over 40 cases and is expected to add more cases once the term commences. This alert provides a brief look at some of the interesting cases the Supreme Court has agreed to hear thus far. In a future alert, we will provide a look at other cases as they are added to the Court’s docket.
President Bush Signs the ADA Amendments Act of 2008

President Bush signed the ADA Amendments Act of 2008 on September 25, 2008. The law will become effective on January 1, 2009. The ADA Amendments Act redefines the definition of “disability” and effectively overturns several United States Supreme Court decisions that construed the Americans with Disabilities Act (“the ADA”) narrowly. As a result of the ADA Amendments Act, more employees will have protection under the ADA.
