Larkin Hoffman Franchise Attorneys Participate in the IFA 49th Annual Convention


Joseph Fittante, Jr. and Charles Modell had active roles in the success of the International Franchise Association's 49th Annual Convention held in San Diego, California from February 14-17, 2009.

The three Larkin Hoffman attorneys participated in the convention in speaking, moderating, and planning capacities:  

Joseph Fittante, Jr.  presented "Is Your Franchise Sales Compliance Program Up to Date? - Best Practices in the Post-Amended Rule World" as part of a supplier forum best practices seminar. The seminar addressed compliance with FTC and state regulations, utilizing electronic disclosure within the compliance guidelines, federal and state exemptions and exclusions, and how to use financial performance representations in the sales process.

Charles Modell served as moderator for the presentation, "The New Sales Paradigm:  What Large Multi-Unit and Private Equity Investors Want from Franchisors." The presentation focused on operational differences for multi-unit and private investors, terms of the franchise agreement and development that should be negotiated, personal guarantees, and benefits and risks to franchisors when dealing with multi-unit and private equity investors.
