Larkin Hoffman wins case in favor of Minnesota Bee Keepers

03/03/2005

Gary Van Cleve, real estate litigator at Larkin Hoffman, represented three Minnesota beekeepers who sued the DNR and International Paper for spraying pesticides that contaminated the beekeepers’ foraging bees. The court held that a land possessor must take reasonable care in the application of pesticides with knowledge or notice of foraging honey bees. The Minnesota Supreme Court’s ruling makes it possible for the bee keeper’s claim to proceed to trial. Larkin Hoffman associate Tamara O’Neill Moreland and former associate C.J. Deike also assisted in preparing briefs for this case.
