Larkin Hoffman Secures Public Funding for Radisson Blu Hotel at Mall of America

A developer seeking to move ahead with construction of a hotel at Mall of America contacted Larkin Hoffman for legislative and real estate services. The Larkin Hoffman legislative team, led by Bill Griffith, secured legislative approval of public funding on behalf of Mall of America for the stalled project as part of the 2010 jobs bill. The team then turned its attention to Hennepin County to request use of $40 million in economic recovery zone facility bonds made available to the County by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, passed by Congress in February 2009. Larkin Hoffman real estate attorneys Tim Stoltman and Ryan Boe assisted Mall of America in negotiating a long-term ground lease and parking entitlements for the hotel site with affiliates of the owners of M.A. Mortenson and Carlson Companies. Thanks in part to the Larkin Hoffman team, Radisson Blu recently broke ground on construction a 500-room upscale hotel at Mall of America. The $137 million project is considered the next phase of the Mall’s expansion and is scheduled to open in the spring of 2013. Larkin Hoffman has represented the owners of Mall of America since it was proposed in 1985.
