Mediation of Franchise Restaurant Dispute

A Minneapolis-based restaurant system, and its multi-unit franchisee in Florida, retained Chuck Modell to mediate a significant dispute between them. The formal mediation resulted in a stalemate, but Chuck followed up with each party, keeping both of them on the telephone over Labor Day weekend until an agreement was reached whereby the franchisor purchased the franchisee’s units in a transaction that was very beneficial to each side.
