Patrick Plunkett Honored with 2021 Minnesota Icon Award from Finance & Commerce
Larkin Hoffman is pleased to announce that Patrick Plunkett has been honored with the 2021 Minnesota Icon Award from Finance & Commerce.
The ICON Awards pay “tribute to the titans of the boardroom and the courtroom” by recognizing individuals with proven success throughout a lengthy and accomplished career. A panel of judges selected this year’s honorees from across Minnesota for having exhibited excellence and being active in their communities and mentoring the next generation. Pat is one of 21 honorees from the business and legal communities selected for the honor this year.
Pat was recognized for his work in nonprofit corporate law along with his work with tax-exempt organizations including charities. In his nomination, Pat is recognized as a "trusted mentor and teacher" to aspiring young attorneys and as someone who has a long career of providing legal counsel to many important nonprofit businesses throughout Minnesota.
In his practice, Pat provides legal counsel for nonprofit and tax-exempt organizations with respect to a wide variety of legal matters including start-up, organizational structures, compliance with applicable laws, executive compensation, adoption and amendments of organizational documents, applying for tax-exempt status, Attorney General reviews and investigations, mergers and acquisitions, tax audits, lobbying restrictions, review and negotiation of commercial contracts and acceptance of charitable contributions.
Pat also provides legal advice to family-owned and closely-held businesses with respect to estate planning and probate, succession planning, contract review and negotiations, compliance with laws, business formations, organizational structures of business entities, mergers and acquisitions, reorganizations, operating agreements, and internal disputes among owners.
