Common Interest Communities
We represent clients in the formation and governance of Common Interest Communities (CICs) under the Minnesota Common Interest Ownership Act (MCIOA), including condominiums, town homes, cooperatives, single family and new residential associations. Our clients include both residential and commercial developers, enabling our team to offer clients a unique perspective on CICs. We prepare all documents in the formation of CICs, including covenants, easements, required disclosures, association formation and conveyance documents. Our attorneys have extensive experience and knowledge regarding MCIOA and its exemptions.
We also offer litigation services for disputes arising out of the MCIOA. We have brought and defended against warranty claims, defended and enforced covenants, and advised on all aspects of perfecting, foreclosing and challenging association assessment liens.
