Larkin Hoffman President and nationally recognized Franchise Attorney Joe Fittante recently appeared on the “Decades of Disruption” podcast. Fittante sat down for a wide-ranging interview with longtime Larkin Hoffman client and Casa de Corazón Founder Natalie Standridge.

The two talked about everything from the biggest mistakes Fittante sees franchisors make and the importance of Item 19 in a Franchise Disclosure Document (FDD) to Fittante’s own challenges with mental health and how those challenges have helped him become a better leader. Fittante, who has served franchisors around the nation for nearly 30 years, also reflected on the importance of legacy when he is advising his clients about selling their business. He said it is imperative that franchisors, some who have spent decades building their brand, take the time to find a buyer who fully understands and lives that vision.

Fittante also reflected on his own legacy as a leading voice in franchise law around the nation. When asked about the awards he has received over the years, Fittante said, “I think every recognition we get, every award, every success we have, is never just about ourselves. It’s about the people around us who helped us. Sometimes, that help means someone is being your biggest cheerleader. Other times, that help is someone who calls you out on the carpet. I’m grateful for the people in my life who have been supportive of me over the years and who have taught me how to be a really good leader and a really good lawyer.”
