For more than 60 years, community has been a core pillar of who we are as a law firm. Today, many in our community are hurting. Many are fearful. Many are searching for a path forward.

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr once wrote, “In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends.” That truth weighs on us now as we watch what’s unfolding in our communities.

One day, our children’s children will ask us what we did in this moment. We refuse to tell them we stood by silently. We simply cannot.

We see the power of Minnesotans standing together. We see it in the peaceful protests that fill our streets, in neighbors caring for neighbors, in the candlelight that filled street corners on a bitter cold Saturday night as we mourned another life lost. That’s the Minnesota we know, and it’s worth preserving.

For our part, we will continue to support the immigrant communities we proudly serve. We will work in partnership with them to support their businesses and advocate for those who have been wrongly damaged by the actions of our federal government. Sometimes, the hardest things to do are the right things. Dr. King taught us that the silence of good people allows injustice to thrive. We refuse to stay silent.
