Larkin Hoffman President Joe Fittante recently talked with Minnesota Lawyer about his first six months leading the firm. The wide-ranging conversation centered around what Fittante has learned over his first few months, his vision for the firm and the advice he would pass along to others aspiring to lead. Fittante also talked about the toll of leading a law firm while continuing his national franchise practice.

“The biggest misconception about becoming the president of a law firm is that people think you quit your day job of being a lawyer to take on this new role,” Fittante said. “In reality, it’s like you’ve taken on a second job. Clients are very surprised when I tell them I am still practicing law.”

Despite his busy schedule, Fittante told the publication he prioritizes fitness and his mental health. He said mental health struggles in his past have helped him become a better leader, and he offered to be a resource to others.
