Shareholder Matthew Bergeron recently spoke with reporters from both KSTP and The Minnesota Reformer regarding the termination of payments to thousands of Medicaid providers by the Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS). The situation arose following the May 31 deadline set by the federal government for the state to revalidate its Medicaid providers or risk losing billions in Medicaid funding.

Addressing the impacts on both care providers and Medicaid patients, Bergeron told KSTP, “There’s a lot of folks who are wondering whether they’ll get their next paycheck and whether somebody will come to take care of them.”

Bergeron, who was recently recognized by Chambers and Partners as a leading health care attorney in the state, represents many impacted providers and their trade associations. As he shared with the Minnesota Reformer, there is hope that many providers will have payments reinstated following an appeal period.
